1. Introduction
As for English teaching in junior schools, we can’t deny that the teaching of reading is an inseparable part of daily teaching tasks. In order to improve teaching efficiency so as to cultivate students’ ability in reading, we can think over many different aspects, for instance, how to enlarge students’ vocabulary, how to improve students’ reading skills, and how to make students learn more about the differences between Chinese and English while reading. Among all these factors, the writer believes the teaching of reading strategies is the most practical, however, at the same time, it also seems that the teaching of reading strategies is overlooked by many teachers in junior schools.
Just as the aim of English reading is to help students understand more about some information, the goal of mastering some certain English reading strategies can also help student learn more about this language. The teaching of reading strategies covers a variety of aspects, for example, the teaching of skimming and scanning, detail reading, and guessing the meaning of words according to the context. All these methods would certainly benefit students’ understanding of the context.
