Abstract:
This thesis aims to study the current situation of Grade 9 students’ use of English learning strategies under the guidance of the new English curriculum standard. A survey is conducted to investigate English learning strategies employed by 350 students in Grade 9 from three junior high schools. The results show that every strategy listed in the questionnaire has been used by the participants. But the frequency at which they use these strategies are low, which indicates that they do not fully make use of the English learning strategies. There is a gap between the ability acquired by the students and the ability desired by National English Curriculum.

摘要:
本论文的目的是为了了解当下初三学生在新《英语课程标准》的指导下,在英语学习中使用英语学习策略的情况。本文对三所初中的初三年级350个学生进行了问卷调查。从对问卷结果的分析可以看出,课程标准中的英语学习策略基本都有被初三学生使用,但使用不够频繁。初三学生现有的使用英语学习策略的能力与新课标的要求还有差距。

1. Introduction
Knowledge can be divided into declarative knowledge, procedural knowledge and strategic knowledge. So a complete learning process must include these three parts. Instead of learning a foreign language in a passive way, we learners should use diversified learning strategies consciously and positively to assist the acquisition of language. Some researches show that learning strategies can make a distinction between efficient and inefficient learners. Appropriate use of learning strategies contributes to the acquisition of language, Moreover; students can be trained to use learning strategies effectively.
