Abstract:

Inquiry-based learning lays emphasis on the cultivation of students’ study interests and acquisition of experience. It requires students to develop a learning style of active participation, inquiry and cooperation. Although the New Curriculum Standard has some requirements of Inquiry-based learning, Inquiry-based learning is still rarely applied in English teaching, especially in junior high school English teaching. On the basis of classroom observation of two teaching cases and interviews with the students, the author analyzes the application of IBL in junior high school English teaching and supplies some suggestions for it.

摘   要:

研究性学习注重学生学习兴趣的培养和经验的取得,要求学生实现主动参与、探究发展、交流合作的学习方式。尽管新课标对于研究性学习有所要求,但是研究性学习却很少运用于英语课堂教学,特别是初中英语课堂。通过课堂观察与课后对学生的访谈,作者对研究性学习在初中英语课堂中的运用进行了分析并提出一些改进的建议。

1.Introduction
1.1 The New Curriculum Standard Requirement of IBL
   The New Curriculum Standard clearly states that English courses for all primary and secondary schools should insist on the idea “student-oriented” and quality education to promote the comprehensive development of students. It also strongly emphasizes that English courses should on the basis of students’ study interests, life experiences and cognitive level to advocate the study model of experiencing, practicing, participating, communicating and cooperating. During the Inquiry-based learning activity which contains planning, preparing, producing and presenting, the goal of improvement of comprehensive language proficiency of students could be achieved. The New Curriculum Standard proposes that the process of language learning should become the process of students forming positive attitudes, proactive thinking, bold practice and enhancing cross-cultural awareness to develop the ability of self-learning.
