Abstract:

Autonomous learning ability is essence for life-long learning, which meets the need of New Curriculum to develop English autonomous learning ability for students in junior middle school. Autonomous learning is able to improve the quality and efficiency of learning as well as cultivation of innovative ability. Based on the analysis of the teaching cases in junior middle, the author discovers the shortness of autonomous learning in some teaching modes in English class and confirms that it is unfavorable for students to improve their autonomous learning ability in such kind of classes. Some suggestions about how to cultivate students’ autonomous learning ability is supplied at last.

摘要:

自主学习能力是终身学习的本质,符合新课程发展的需要在初中学生英语自主学习能力。自主学习能够提高学习的质量和效率,以及创新能力的培养。基于初中的教学案例的分析,作者发现自主学习教学模式在英语课中存在不足,并证实在这样的课堂中不利于学生提高他们的自主学习能力。最后关于如何培养学生的自主学习能力提出一些建议。

1. Introduction
    Due to the rapid development of science and technology, life-long learning gains lots of popularity, which means we should have autonomous learning ability when studying. Autonomous learning ability is essence for life-long learning and it meets the need of New Curriculum well. English curriculum standard points out that the teacher should interact positively with student and achieve common development in the process of teaching, and deal with the relationship between imparting knowledge and cultivating ability, and also pay attention to cultivating the students’ independence and autonomy. Besides, teachers should consider the students’ interest in learning, life experience and cognitive level to enable the student actively to participate in the educational environment, and develop the ability of students’ comprehensive language, also should stimulate students’ learning enthusiasm, and develop autonomous learning ability and the team cooperation spirit to make every student full development, and establish a good foundation for their life-long learning and development. Autonomous learning changes from learning passive to active and arouses students’ interest in studying English. Besides, it improves the quality and efficiency of learning, and also cultivates innovation ability. However, in most English classroom teaching, teachers just know the concept of autonomous ability. They can’t apply it appropriately and accurately when teaching. So this paper will give some advice and guidance to student and teachers to make progress for autonomous learning.
