Abstract: As science advanced, network is playing a more and more important role in our life. This study tends to explore a comprehensive model on a combination of autonomous learning with network technology. Based on the collected material, it can be seen that with the support of teachers’ instruction and supervising, web-based autonomous learning model can stimulates students not only the enthusiasm and capability of lifelong learning but also the guarantee quality of teaching progresses. This study also expounds the application of web-based autonomous learning model to college English development, with the purpose of providing some enlightenment to creating optimal language learning environment.

摘要:随着科技的发展,网络技术在人们生活中发挥着越来越重要的作用。本文旨在探索一种结合网络技术和自主学习的新模式。在已搜集资料的基础上,我们可以看出在教师指导和监管下的网络自主学习模式不仅可以激发学习热情,鼓励终身学习能力,还保证了语言教学的质量。同时本文也详细阐述了网络自主学习模式的应用对大学英语的促进作用,希望能为创造理想的语言学习环境提供启发性的作用。

College English is a compulsory course which covers almost every colleges and universities. Without an appropriate model, college English teaching in China now is facing the problem with students’ low operational capabilities. The Education Reforms of College English issued in 2004 by the Ministry of Education focus on the purposes of cultivating students’ comprehensive learning abilities including autonomous learning. The new requirements also emphasize the importance of using a raft of resources from books to the Internet. Since then, the integration of computer technology into language learning has been on its way to gaining popularity on campus.
As science continues to progress with the lightning speed, the network functions in every corner of the social life and changes people's attitudes to a large extent. At the same time, the traditional teacher-centric way hinders the achievements of new education targets. The new teaching models should build on the modern technology to keep up with the development of higher education. The whole society also requires a flexible,independent learning concept that followed with the modern educational standards. Network is considered as an instructional tool to stimulate and strengthen the levels of language learning. Network can satisfy with complex teaching requirements, deepening teaching reforms and improving the efficiency of college English learning. Under the condition of the modern teaching environments, autonomous learning does not just mean learning on one’s own; instead, it must be assisted with the advanced technology. It is the usage of modern education models that makes the revolutions of the traditional way and urges the appearance of new tendency which enables students to choose materials whatever they need to develop their individualized differences and autonomous learning levels. The effectiveness of college English leaching largely depends on the connections of autonomous learning concepts with the practical training in web-based learning environment. Therefore, web-based autonomous learning model (WBAL) not only provides a fertile environment free from the constraints of time or place, but also changes the situation of unsatisfied teaching quality and learner’s low autonomy levels.
