Automated writing evaluation (AWE), is not a new technology and has been developed and adopted in writing classes. Teachers can create assignments for students, give feedback, review students’ performance, and archive students’ data including written prose, holistic scores and feedback, and statistical performance information. However, it hasn’t been developed till the 1960s. For better improving students’ English Writing, there has been a constant development of theories and teaching practices in English writing education.
The demand for AWE intensifies with our increasing dependence on global information systems. Although there has long been widespread agreement on the need for development of writing (see, for example, National Commission on Writing, 2003, p. 3).
