Abstract
Different modes of thinking and traditional cultures give languages different connotations and their unique way of using language. Thinking is the backbone of language and language is the carrier of thinking which means that they interact on each other. So English teaching should be connected with its cultural teaching.
In recent years, with the increasingly close links with the other countries all over the world, mastering English is essential for most people because language is a very important part of cross-cultural communication. Although our country gradually improve English education and finished some reforms, there are still some problems for Chinese students especially on writing.
This paper analyzes the influences towards Chinese college students which are caused by the differences between the Chinese thinking mode and western thinking mode with some students writing samples. And in this paper the “western thinking” means the thinking mode of English speakers. After the analysis this paper gives some feasible countermeasures which the students can overcome the problems brought by the differences between Chinese thinking mode and western thinking mode with students writing samples so that students can improve their writing skills and achieve the purpose that they can do better in cross-cultural communication.

摘要
不同民族的思维方式和文化传统赋予各民族语言不同的内涵,并制约着各自使用语言的独特方式。思维是语言的脊梁,语言是思维的载体,二者互相影响,互相作用,因此外语教学应与其文化教学相结合。
近年来,随着我国与世界各国的联系日益密切,掌握英语这项技能对大多数人来说已经必不可少。语言是跨文化交际中一项非常重要的部分。虽然我国逐步完善英语教学水平和并完成了一些改革,但是中国大学生中任然存在一些问题,尤其是在写作方面。
本文从词法、句法、篇章三个层面入手,结合大学生英语作文实例来分析中西思维方式差异对大学生英语写作的负面影响,并且结合大学生英语作文中的具体实例,提出具有可行性的应对策略,从而使学生从根本上克服因中西方思维差异所带来的困扰,培养学生英语思维能力,提高英语写作水平并达到顺利进行跨文化交际的目的。
