Abstract
Over the years, teaching of foreign languages in China has followed the traditional way in which students listen to the teachers attentively. With the implementation of the new curriculum reform, the teaching mode is changing. The students are the center of the English classroom, and the roles of teachers in class have been multiplied.
This essay begins with the present situation of college English classrooms in China and the roles of the English teachers. Then it analyzes three cases, aiming to find out the problems so as to advance the technicality of English teachers’ roles in classrooms and improve the effectiveness between teaching and learning for the purpose of realization of the true meaning of student-centered teaching in college English classrooms.

摘要
多年来,我国外语教学一直保持着传统的教学模式,即学生听老师讲。然而,随着新课程改革的实施,教学模式发生了变化,学生成了英语教学课堂的中心,教师的角色也随之发生转变。
本文阐述了我国大学英语课堂现状及教师的角色, 通过分析三个课堂教学案例,试图找到大学英语教学的问题所在,旨在提高英语教师课堂角色的科学性,改善教与学的效果,从真正意义上实现以学生为中心的教学。

1. Introduction
In Chinese traditional teaching mode, the teacher is the center in the classroom, and there is a large proportion of teaching sections of the book during the teaching. No matter in terms of quality and quantity, students participate classroom activities are not meet the requirement. So, the teaching mode of “Teachers tell while students listen” is formed.
