Abstract
Assessment as a tool of English teaching exerts a great influence on English teaching. Formative assessment emphasizes teaching process, which uses many kinds of ways to evaluate the education and it is an important way to reform the traditional teaching model. Autonomous learning emphasizes the idea of ‘student-center’ which it is totally different from the traditional idea and mode of education. Therefore, formative assessment has a great significance to improve students’ leaner autonomy.
This thesis begins with the definition of formative assessment and autonomous learning and reviewing related literature. Next, by stating the effect of formative assessment to learning capacity, the thesis introduces the necessity to have formative assessment in college students’ English learning. And then, from the study of the favorable conditions of college students’ learning, the author suggests it can use the ways of shifting the roles of teachers and students, equipping students with appropriate learning strategies, enhancing students’ learning motivations, helping students carry out self-assessment in their learning process, strengthening the cooperative learning and creating autonomous learning environment cultivate students’ autonomous learning abilities.

摘要
评价作为一种教学手段,在英语教学中起重要作用。近年来,关于形成性评价的研究受到课程教学的重视。形成性评价强调教学过程,通过各种评价方法和手段对教学的全过程进行评价。培养学生的自主学习能力强调以学生为中心的教学理念,这是与传统的以教师为中心的教学理念和模式截然不同的。同时,也是改革传统的教学模式的重要途径。因此,提高学生的自主学习在英语教学中有重大意义。
本文首先介绍形成性评价与自主学习的概念,国内外形成性评价与自主学习研究的现状;其次通过对形成性评价对自主学习能力的影响,介绍在大学评价体系中运用形成性评价的必要性;然后通过了解学生大学生活的能够提高自主学习能力的有利条件,提出可采用改变教师与学生的角色,应用合适的教学策略,提高大学生学习动机,帮助学生进行自我评价,开展合作学习,创造自主学习环境这些方法去提高大学生自主学习能力,提高大学生英语运用的能力。
