摘要

国内外对英语委婉语的研究主要侧重于其定义、功能、特征以及构成手段等方面,本文在回顾前人研究的基础上,探究委婉语在中学英语教学中的重要作用以及如何在教学过程中有效地提高学生委婉语习得等问题。文章通过将教学理论和实践相结合,通过实例体现措施实施的具体方法,运用对比法和举例法介绍和深入研究,旨在提高学生和教师双方对英语委婉语的充分重视,并提出具体措施帮助教师更好地完成对英语委婉语的教学,促进中学生英语应用能力和交际能力的提高。
全文分为五个部分:第一章明确本研究的意义,勾勒文章的大致框架,并且呈现委婉语的基本信息。第二章是文献综述,主要介绍国内外英语委婉语的研究历史。第三章通过论述委婉语与日常生活、素质教育和跨文化意识的关系,突显委婉语的重要性。第四章通过具体措施,全面论述如何在中学英语教学中有效实施委婉语教学来提高学生委婉语习得。最后一章在总结的基础上探讨委婉语对外语教学的启示,并指出本文研究的局限之处及对未来研究的建议。

Abstract

  The study of euphemisms abroad and at home mainly focuses on the definition, function, characteristic and formative method. Thus, on the basis of the former study, this paper will have a deep study on the importance of euphemisms in high English teaching and the problem on how to efficiently increase students’ acquisition of euphemisms in teaching process through combining the teaching theory with practice and example manifests the measures on the implementation of specific methods. In the paper, aiming to improve both teachers’ and students’ attention on euphemisms, survey method, comparative method and exemplification will be used to introduce the content and make a deep research. Besides, concrete measures are put forward to help teachers better apply euphemisms into English teaching to promote students’ ability of application and communication.
    The paper consists of five parts. The first chapter introduces the significance of this topic, general organization and the introduction of the basic information about English euphemisms. Chapter 2 is literature review, which mainly introduce the history of English euphemisms study at home and abroad. Chapter 3 state the importance of English euphemisms through introducing the connection of euphemism with daily life, quality-oriented education and cross-culture awareness. Chapter 4, a deep study is carried out to find effective measures on how to comprehensively implement the euphemisms teaching in high school English teaching to improve students’ euphemism acquisition. The last chapter, on the foundation of making a conclusion of the whole paper, points out the implication for foreign language teaching as well as the limitation of the study and the suggestions for further study.
