Abstract
With the rapid development of society and globalization of economy, people have paid a lot of attention to English teaching. However, in recent years, more and more scholars and educators found the problems in current English teaching in China----the lack of educating on Chinese language and culture.
Language is the carrier of culture. The purpose of learning language is communication. As to the students who majoring in foreign languages, they assume the task of the future cultural transmission. But it is a prevalent phenomenon in Chinese colleges that Chinese culture deficiency exists among foreign language majors. Although many students memorize a lot of English vocabulary, know much about English grammar and English language and culture, they could not express Chinese culture in the appropriate way. It is obvious that Chinese culture deficiency will impact negative effects on English Proficiency.
By illustrating the main reasons for this phenomenon, this paper willing to analyze the effects of Chinese culture deficiency on English Majors’ English Proficiency and the performance. And try to give some suggestions on the improvement.

随着我国改革开放政策的深化以及全球化经济的不断发展,社会各界对英语的学习热情持续高涨。与此同时,英语教学也越来越受到人们的重视。然而,近年来,越来越多的学者和教育工作者们发现了的我国现行的英语教学中所存在的问题——英语教学过程中缺乏汉语言文化的学习。
语言是文化的载体。语言学习的目的在于交流。对外语专业学生而言,他们承担着未来文化传播的任务, 然而目前高校外语专业学生中普遍存在着民族文化缺失的现象。很多学生虽然背诵了大量的英语词汇,掌握了较为牢固的英语语法知识,熟悉了较为丰富的英语语言文化,却不能在遇到涉及有着深厚汉语言文化背景的话题时候,用适当的语言将其有效地表达出来。可见,汉语言文化的缺失阻碍了英语能力的良好应用。
基于此,本课题在简析造成当代英语专业学生传统文化缺失的主要原因的基础上,拟分析汉语言文化缺失对英语专业学生英语语言应用能力的影响及其表现。

1. Introduction
With the rapid development of society and the globalization of economy, the world becomes smaller and smaller as a global village. English has become an international language. More and more Chinese people use English for international purposes----to do business, to conduct social communication and so on. With the number of English learners increasing today, English teaching is becoming more and more mature than ever before. Many reforms have been done in the field of foreign language teaching and so does the culture teaching, which is an indispensable part of language teaching.
