摘要

正常的中小学学校教育中,有声语言占了课堂教学的绝大部分,但是,心理学研究表明:肢体语言在培养学生良好的性格方面始终起着非常积极的作用。学生的学习兴趣,是在学习的过程中,由于经常体验到学习的乐趣,多次获得成功的满足,逐渐形成了一种比较稳定的学习动机和求知欲望。因此要在教学中为学生积极创造能够获得学习乐趣和成功的机会,从而激发学生学习的兴趣,提高学习的效果。因此在英语课堂上采用肢体语言是很有现实意义的。

Abstract

In the normal elementary and secondary English education, verbal language accounts for most of the classroom teaching. However, psychological research shows that body language plays a very positive role in cultivating students' good character. The interest in learning is developed during the process of study, since we can experience the fun of learning frequently and achieve the sense of satisfaction in success. Furthermore, the interest becomes a stable motivation and desire in learning gradually. As a result, teachers should create more chances for students to enjoy learning and obtain success, so as to stimulate students' interest in their study and improve their learning effects. In a word, applying body language in English teaching is exceptionally significant.

1. Introduction
1.1 Purpose
Teachers’ graceful body language helps to improve the students’ artistic-appreciation and moral character. If the students develop a wonderful body language, which will possibly leads them to form an optimistic and active feeling, they will surely have a more smooth interpersonal relation. However, with the limitation of students’ vocabulary, teachers have to simplify their teaching language with the help of facial expressions and body movements. In this article, the possibility and the effect of using body language in listening, speaking, reading and writing will be further discussed.
1.2 Methodology
There are three main methods used in this paper, they are: comparative analysis, comprehensive analysis, and case study method.
1.3 Structures
This paper can be divided into three main parts: introduction, the body and conclusion. And the main body can also be divided into five sections, the definition, the features, the function, the types and the specific application of body language.
