Abstract
Chinglish refers to the English that Chinese people use with strong characteristics of Chinese thinking as well as the specific grammar and pronunciation unacceptable for native speakers. The wide use of Chinglish calls the attention of the world. It not only hinders the international communication between China and other countries, but also damages the image of China on the global stage. This thesis intends to analyze the phenomenon of Chinglish, comparing it with another concept—China English, and giving possible solutions to reduce Chinglish. Therefore, it may help Chinese students grasp Standard English better.

1 Introduction
Since 1978, China has made great change because of the policy of reform and opening up. People all over the world gradually pay more attention to China. Both Chinese people and foreigners are eager to know each other. Under this circumstance, English, as the official language in most of the western countries, is playing an important role. But how to use and translate English correctly has become a new problem. Hence, Chinglish appears. It has not only blocked the international communication between China and foreign countries, but also made negative effect on Chinese image on the global stage. Until recent years has it caught the attention of authorities and scholars, as well as some common people. A number of articles on Chinglish, in order to help people recognize the misusage of English, have been published both at home and on abroad.
The Translator’s Guide to Chinglish(2011) written by Joan Pinkham must be the most popular study of Chinglish. In her book, she gives definition to Chinglish and presents us with many persuasive examples. The materials she uses are authentic, most of which had been published. This enlightening book benefits translators and English learners in China a lot.
