摘　 要

颜色与人生的生活紧密相连，人们对颜色的认识不再局限于颜色本身所表现出来的视觉特征，而是给颜色赋予了一定的文化内涵和实际意义。颜色词除了形容大自然缤纷的色彩，同时也体现了不同的文化影响。他们有独特的语言功能和文化象征意义。在我们的生活中，颜色扮演一个必不可少的组成部分。颜色词是一个有效的途径来学习不同的文化。因为日益频繁的跨文化交际，增加了文化误解和交际障碍的出现几率。由于风俗，习惯，历史和传统，宗教和信仰，地域，民族心理和思维方式的差异，中文和英语颜色词具有不同的文化含义和内涵。因此，很容易犯错误了解和理解。研究过程是这样的: 从中文和英文中收集一些代表颜色词,把他们作为例子,然后做一个文化内涵的对比。根据比较,做一个总结关于中英颜色词的差异。本论文将讨论英语和汉语颜色词的文化差异。学习中英颜色的词汇特征是很重要的。它可以帮助我们能更好地理解两个民族之间的文化差异，更好地进行彼此间的文化交流。

Abstract

With the development of society and culture, people’s understanding of color is not confided to the visual characteristics of color itself. Besides, people give color cultural connotation and actual meanings. In language, the unique glamour that the color words demonstrate makes people regard them with special esteem. Color words describe colors of nature with different cultural implications. They have unique linguistic functions and symbolic connotations. Colors play an indispensable part in our life and it's an effective way to learn the different culture. There is an increase in mis-understanding and communicative barriers because of frequent cross-cultural communication. Chinese and English color words possess different cultural meanings and connotation due to the difference in customs and habits, history and traditions, religions and beliefs, geographic locations, national psychology and ways of thinking. Thus, it’s easy to make mistakes on understanding and comprehension. The methods used in the research procedure are as followers: collecting some representative color words both from Chinese and English and taking them as samples; then making a comparison between cultural connotations. According to the comparison, this paper aims to make a summary about the differences of color words between China and England. This thesis brings a discussion of cultural differences between English and Chinese color words. Color words in learning English is very important. This paper can help us make a better understanding of the culture difference of both nations, and achieve the effective cross-culture communication.

1 Introduction
1.1 Background
Nowadays, we live in a colorful wor1d--- green trees，red flowers，blue sea and so on-colors make things vivid and give human beings inspiration. Human begin to use color words to express invisible and abstract feelings. Color is closely related to our daily life with abundant culture connotation, which is a crucial object for language, culture and translation. “Color word” indicates the word which is used to stand for a kind of color. Color word is an essential part of language and culture implications.
