摘　要

现代社会礼仪无处不在，用餐不仅仅是满足了人类的基本生存需求，更多的是体现了文化的内涵。世界各国均以其特有的文化底蕴诠释着独具特色的用餐礼仪。中国作为一个文明古国，自然有着久远的餐桌文化，中华饮食源远流长，用餐礼仪自然成为饮食文化的一个重要组成部分;而美国也在民族融合和现代化进程中形成了自己特有的用餐礼仪，为了使宾客都能愉快顺利地用餐，以及减少不必要的误会，就必须了解两者的不同。本文通过大量的参考文献以及总结前人经验上，着重从中美餐饮礼仪的历史，特点，差异以及产生的原因几方面进行了对比分析，旨在端正对各自文化的态度，避免跨文化交际过程中因观念的不同而产生的矛盾和冲突，能够相互融合，共同发展。

Abstract

Modern social etiquette exists everywhere, the meal not only meets the basic physiological need, but also embodies the cultural connotation. Every country is interpreting its unique cultural heritage of dining etiquette. China, with an ancient civilization, has a very long dining culture of Chinese cuisine, because it has a long history, dining etiquette naturally becomes an important part of the food culture; At the same time, during the process of the fast national integration and modernization, the United States is also forming its own unique dining etiquette, so in order to make the guests dine and stay smoothly and avoid unnecessary misunderstandings, people must understand the difference between the two cultures. With the deepening of China's opening to the outside world, it is of  practical significance to understand the foreign culture, especially American dining etiquette. This paper mainly focuses on the following aspects which are found through a large number of materials, they are histories, characteristics, and differences, as well as the causes of dinning etiquettes of China and America. Through the comparative analysis, the paper is designing to correct attitude towards the other’s culture, and to avoid the contradictions and conflicts during the process of cross-cultural communication due to the different concepts, merge and promote their common development.

1 Introduction
    As is known to all, Chinese food culture has a very long history, and is broad and profound. According to the literature, at least in the Zhou Dynasty, dinning etiquette has formed a well-established system. These rituals are increasingly mature and perfect with time going on, they not only played an important role in ancient society, but also in modern society. Western dinning manners originated in the French Merovingian dynasty in the 20th century, with the Italian culture going into France, dinning manners and menu terms have become more and more elegant and refined, also lots of works about teaching etiquettes have come out constantly later. Today, the dinning manners still continue to live on in the European countries.
