摘　要

随着经济全球化的快速发展，中国与世界的联系越来越紧密，而加入世贸组织使得这种联系更为突出。因此，人们也有了更多的机会与外商在贸易上进行友好往来, 使得商务信函在此过程中显得尤为重要。
不难发现，不论是在阅读或是商务信函中，其字里行间总是透露着对对方的尊重。毫无疑问，礼貌原则在商务信函中是有着不可取代的地位。买方和卖方都希望通过商务信函的协商往来而取得各自期望的结果，这就意味着双方在此过程中需要运用策略来表达自己的意愿，从而被对方接受。在很大程度上，礼貌原则能否得到正确运用会影响贸易的成功与否。礼貌原则的应用可通过分析案例中的商务信函中的词汇和句子来了解。因此，可以说礼貌原则的运用是非常重要的。
本论文从理论和实际两方面阐述礼貌原则应用于商务信函中的重要性。

Abstract

With the high-speed development of economic globalization, China has established more and more connection with the world, especially after her entering WTO. There are more and more opportunities for people to trade with foreign merchants. As a result, Foreign Business Correspondence plays an important role in this process.
When people read or wrote it, they could find the words or sentences in Foreign Business Correspondence show the respect for others. It is no denying that Politeness Principle has an irreplaceable effect on Foreign Business Correspondence. What is more, the seller and buyer all want to obtain the expected result through Foreign Business Correspondence, which means both parties in this process should have the strategies to express their own opinions and make them accepted by each other. And the right usage of politeness strategies affects the success of business activities to a large extent. The application of Politeness Principle can be learned through the analyses of the examples in terms of the vocabulary, sentence and the discourse of business letters. Therefore, the strategies in application are very important.
This dissertation expounds in detail the significance and the application of Politeness Principle in Foreign Business Correspondence theoretically and realistically.

1    Introduction
As is known to all, politeness is a universal phenomenon which exists in all human societies and pervades almost every aspect of human life. Also Politeness Principle is a symbol of human civilization which is the guide to human event. Being polite is one of the manifestations of human civilization.
This dissertation will interpret the significance and the application of Politeness Principle in Foreign Business Correspondence theoretically and realistically. It will give an account of Politeness Principle and its application in Foreign Business Correspondence. Through this dissertation, everyone who reads it can pay attention to the use of Politeness Principle in Foreign Business Correspondence.
