摘　要

当今的世界是一个文化撞击日益频繁，文化日益多样性的世界，跨文化的交流也越来越为频繁，不同语种世界人民之间的交流也渐渐增多。在人们的日常语言使用中，颜色词汇的使用是非常频繁的，无论是在汉语言文化中，还是英语文化中表示颜色的词汇都是极其的丰富。此外，颜色还是最迅速最流行的交流媒介，人们总是用色彩来表达自己的情感，丰富自己的语言。颜色是一种客观存在事物，通过对颜色意义差异的研究，不仅能丰富我们的词汇，同时也能加深对英国文化的深一层了解，如，不同时期历史文化背景、审美差异、社会环境、地理环境、文化心理、宗教信仰等。本文着重对在中英文中以中国与英国两者为大体文化背景而产生差异的颜色象征进行对比，研究不同颜色的表示在不同文化中的象征意义以及使用禁忌。以颜色文化为一个切入点，窥视中英文化差异的一二。

Abstract

Nowadays, the world is a world of more frequent cultural impact and increasing cultural diversity. And the cross-cultural communications are more frequent day by day. The communication between different people of different nations and languages has gradual increased. In people’s daily use of language, the words of color are frequently used. No matter in Chinese culture or British culture, the words that can express color are extremely rich. Furthermore, color can be the quickest and most popular intermediary of communication. People always use color to express one’s emotions and enrich own language. Color is an objective existence. Through the study of colors, we can not only enrich our vocabulary, but know more about the British culture, such as, different periods of historical and cultural backgrounds, aesthetic differences, social environment, geographical environment, culture psychology, religions and etc.. This paper focuses on the contrast of the diversities of different color symbolisms in Chinese and English which are in China and Britain general cultural backgrounds, and studying the different color symbolisms and taboo in different cultures. Take the color culture as one breakthrough point, peep one or two of the cultural differences between Chinese and English.

1  Introduction
    Currently, cross-cultural communication is more frequent. People in different languages and cultures have different understandings of the same words. In people’s daily use of language, the use of color is high frequency. No matter in Chinese culture or English culture, the words that can express color are extremely rich. This paper mainly introduce the differences of color symbolisms between China and Britain cultures. In daily life, color is the most expressive language. It can emerge some language and convey some emotion. And the reason why there are differences is also can be inferred in the following paper. Knowing color symbolisms in different cultures well will be a great advantage in cross-cultural communication. There are various color words in Chinese and English. The use of color words not only express things’ different characteristics, but also embody its special emotions and cultural backgrounds.
