摘 要
语言和文化是密不可分的。词汇是语言的一部分,同时也是人类文化的载体。植物词汇是一个国家的语言中最基本的组成部分,代表着一个国家特定的文化特色。本文对中英植物词汇文化内涵进行比较分析,选用例子与前人有异,旨在揭示中英植物词汇内涵的异同。从而更准确的把握中英植物词汇的内涵,更好地了解中英植物词汇,促进中英文化交流,推动中英语言的发展。在跨文化的环境中,我们不难看到人们由于词汇文化内涵认知不同而产生误解。因此,对于学习其他语言的人来说,了解和分析该语言常用词内涵的文化背景是很重要的。对比中英词汇文化内涵,从而牢固掌握英语词汇的联系意义,提高跨文化感知,也是我们所必须要做的。只有这样,学习者在文化理解和文化交流方面才有稳固的基础。

Abstract
Language and culture are inseparable. Vocabulary is not only a part of language, but also carrier of human culture. Plant vocabulary is the most basic part of a nation’s language, which representing the country’s specific cultural characteristics. This paper focuses on comparing and analyzing the associative meanings of plant words in English and Chinese. Its aim is to reveal the similarities and differences of lexical connotation of the Chinese-English plants in order to more accurately grasp the connotation of the Chinese-English plant vocabulary, to understand better the Chinese-English plants vocabulary, and promote the Chinese-English cultural exchanges, and promote the development of language. In intercultural communication, it’s not rare to see people have cognitive difference even misunderstandings due to inadequate grasp of cultural connotation of words. So, it’s important for a person who is learning foreign language to know its cultural background and analyze connotations of common words. It is also necessary for us to compare the connotation of words between Chinese and English, fully grasp the associative meaning of English words and enhance the sense of inter-culture and cultural sensitivity. By doing so, the learners will have a solid foundation of cultural comprehensive and communication.

1 Introduction
National cultural words reflect on almost every aspect of our life, and many of our daily used words belong to national cultural words, such as plant terms. Language is the product of labor. The creation of language generated names to all things on the earth. Words of the language, besides their literal meanings, are endowed with culture-loaded meanings, connotations, which are produced in and connected with a particular nation, national culture, and people’s mentality in a particular community. The associations carried by the words are characteristics of a nation’s features. Having close relationship with man’s life, plants are commonly seen around us.
