摘　要

色彩是存在于所有物体的无声语言，组成色彩斑斓的世界和人类的生存环境。理论上人类拥有相同的生理机制和视觉神经，中美两国人对颜色的认知应相同。但不同国家的人对相同颜色的情感，地理环境，历史背景，宗教信仰，思维方式等不同赋予颜色词独特的文化特征。中美两国的灿烂文化创造了很多颜色词。这些颜色词本身含义和丰富的象征意义导致中美两国人无法顺利交流。因此，为了避免误会和促进沟通，本文将会对比分析中美颜色词的异同。首先，本文阐述中美颜色词差异的原因，列举回顾国内外对颜色词的研究，接着介绍颜色词定义，深入探讨中美颜色词含义的区别。最后得出结论，只有中美两国人民正确对待和理解颜色词的差异才能加强双方的沟通交流。

Abstract

Color is a speechless language that exists in various things on the earth to constitute the colorful world as well as human environment. In theory, due to the same physiological mechanism and optic nerve, people from America and China should have shared the same cognition to color. However, people from the two different nations have different feelings to identical color. Because of their different geographical position, historical background, religious belief, way of thinking and so on, the color words are unavoidably endowed with its culture. America and China are both abundant in color words for their colorful cultures. What’s more, color words are rich in symbolized meanings beside their literal connotations. As a result of great differences between American and Chinese color words, it is difficult for people from the two countries to have a good exchange of views. Therefore, in order to avoid misunderstandings and promote exchange, this paper will make a comparative analysis of similarities and differences between American and Chinese color words. Firstly, it explains the reasons of the differences and similarities between Chinese and American color words. Secondly, it lists some related researches on colors abroad and makes a literature review of the study of color words both in foreign countries and in China.  Then, it introduces the definitions of color words, and makes a comparative analysis of color words in China and America. At last, it draws the conclusion that only when the differences and similarities of color words are properly treated and comprehended can people from the two nations understand each other and strengthens exchanges and communication.
