The Comparison of Different Movie Versions of Alice in Wonderland

ABSTRACT
Alice in Wonderland is written by the English novelist Lewis Carroll in 1865. It has been adapted into several movie versions up to the present day. In this paper I make a study of two movie versions—the animated feature film made by Walt Disney in 1951, and the fantasy film directed by Tim Burton in 2010. This paper compares the two works with the original and sees how Burton’s idea was brought into focus through the discussion on both the similarities and differences of these two movie versions.
It approaches different themes and styles of the two movie versions from various aspects, including the scene, atmosphere, character, and costume analysis. The paper aims to discover how Tim Burton’s movie and the Disney movie produce their respective effects through different techniques.
     Tim Burton lays emphasis on Alice’s competence in judging things, which makes her more mature than the original Alice. Besides, he creates Alice in Wonderland into a dark fantasy movie which mixes Burton style and the original in a good balance by the use of special effects or original characters’ setting that had been done before.

《爱丽丝梦游仙境》是在1865年由英国作家刘易斯•卡罗尔所撰写的儿童文学作品，目前，这作品已被改编成多个电影版本。我在本文中研究了两部电影版本，分别是华特•迪士尼于1951年制作的动画电影与蒂姆•伯顿于2010年执导的美国同名奇幻动画。本文比较了两部电影版本与原作，通过讨论这两部电影版本的相似和差异之处，看出伯顿的想法是如何成为焦点的。
论文从不同的方面，包括场景，气氛，角色塑造，人物服装分析等，接近两部电影版本的不同主题和风格。本文旨在讨论蒂姆•伯顿的电影和迪士尼的电影如何通过不同手法制造出其各自的效果。
蒂姆•伯顿强调爱丽丝的判断事情的能力，使她比原作的爱丽丝更成熟。此外，他创建了一个黑暗的幻想的爱丽丝梦游仙境，使用特殊效果和原作的人物设定，恰好混合了伯顿风格和原作风格。
