摘　要

随着世界经济的全球化发展，模糊语对于商人来说是一种供他们沟通和交流想法很有效的方式，所以，模糊语在商务英语谈判中显得越来越重要。作为语言的一种特性，模糊语有它自己的优势。因此，模糊语在商务英语谈判中显得越来越重要。本文引用一些学者对模糊语的定义并举例说明要如何使用模糊语从而达到谈判目的。从19世纪开始，不少的学者就从语用而非语义的角度研究了模糊语。因此，本文从模糊语的定义出发并从语用功能，结合合作原则和礼貌原则分析模糊语在商务英语谈判中的应用，不仅帮助人们更好地了解模糊语，而且能把握其在商务英语谈判领域的运用，从而能够更加有效地在言语交际中使用模糊语来达到交际目的。

Abstract

With the development of international economy, vague language is a useful way for businessmen to communicate and exchange their ideas with each other, so vague language becomes more and more important in business English negotiation. As a kind of language, vague language has its own advantage. This paper quotes different scholars’ definitions of vague language and how to use it to achieve the goal of business English negotiation. From 1970s, a lot of scholars have begun to pay much attention to the study of vague language from the perspective of pragmatics rather than from the perspective of semantics. Therefore, the paper analyzes the application of vague language in business English negotiation from the perspective of pragmatics with cooperative principle and politeness principle. It can not only help people know more about vague language, but also help them have a good command of using vague language so that businessmen can achieve communication goals more effectively.

1 Introduction
This paper will talk about the definitions of vague language from different scholars and analyze the application of vague language in business English negotiation from the perspective of pragmatics.
With the development of globalization and development of world economy, business English negotiation becomes more and more common. At the same time, vague language plays an important role in business English negotiation.
There are many different definitions of vague language from a lot of scholars abroad and at home. In the past, almost all the people hold their opinions that they should talk clearly and let their partner know what they want to express in their conversations. However, to some extent, people are not likely to express their own thoughts directly. So knowing about vague language is very necessary.
