摘　要

商务合同英语属半法律性语言,用词准确、正式、严谨,具有鲜明文体意义。商务英语合同对合同各方的责任、权利和义务都有明确的规定，在国际交流与合作中被广泛使用。本文基于典型实例的分析,从正式词语、古体词、法律词汇、近义词、常规词“shall”的专业用法、外来词、大写字母的使用等方面论述了商务合同英语在词汇层次所体现出来的文体特征。这将有助于加深我们对商务英语合同的认识，以便更好地理解和运用商务英语，同时也有助于提高我们语言表述的准确性和得体性。

Abstract

English for business contracts is an English language of law which has accurate, formal and precise words with stylistic meaning. International business contracts clearly stipulate the responsibilities, rights and obligations of all parities of the contract which are widely used in the international communication and cooperation. This paper, based on the analysis of typical examples, discusses the characteristics of English words for business contracts from the perspectives of formal words, archaisms, technical terms, synonyms, legal term “shall”, foreign words and capitalized letters. It can help us deepen the understanding about international business contracts to apply it in a flexible way, at the same time, it can improve the accuracy and appropriation of our language formulation.

1 Introduction
   This paper, based on the analysis of typical examples, discusses the characteristics of English words for business contracts from the perspectives of formal words, archaisms, technical terms, synonyms, legal term “shall”, foreign words and capitalized letters.
1.1 Background Information
As exchanges and cooperation of international economy, culture, education, investment and some other fields more closely and frequently, business contracts should be concluded and signed to specify all the rights and obligations of the parties, avoid causing foreign-related economic disputes. Because business contract signed in business activities is a file with the law Status. So English business contract has both the characteristics of business English and legal English. To understand the language features of English business contract can help us understand, translate and draft English contract better.
