1 Introduction
“Language is a guide to social reality.” Language is not only a guide, it is even a mirror that reflects the sexism in social reality, and at the same time, it makes people see the society more clearly. Language reflects sexism in society, which does not mean that language itself has sexism elements, just as it is not obscene, but it can connote sexist attitudes.
Language cannot be sexist independently of society. Linguistic connotation is the reflection of social reality. There is interaction between language and reality. Namely, Language might perpetuate and maintain sex-typing, the subordination of women and adherence to andocentric values. Although particular linguistic forms and structures haven’t sexism elements in themselves, the range of linguistic choices readily available in a community both reflects and contributes to maintaining traditional views of the sexes. In other words, language relies on conventionalized models of the world.
