1. Introduction
Modern newspaper is one of the most important means in the field of transmitting information, yet it has a life of only several hundred years. For several hundred years, newspaper makes great contribution to the progress of human civilization. Every morning in the city when countless people are still in the dreamland, millions of newspapers, which carry fresh information, have freshly come from the roaring printing press. The earliest newspaper in the world appeared in China, but in the newspaper-developed country of British and America, the development of newspaper still shows prosperous complexion, such as The Times in Britain and American The New York Times which are the typical cases.
Firstly let’s come to The Times. The Times was originated in 1785, which has come to be an all-around and national daily newspaper, and also has great impact on the political, economic and cultural life of the world. It is considered as the first mainstream big newspaper all the time in Britain for a long time, which has been praised as “the social faithful registrar in British.” The Times has had a long history of development, but the road of its development is very zigzag. It has ever experienced three tides and two ebbs in its history of over 200 years.
