摘要

    任何一个国家都与自己独特的文化，而语言是文化的符号，是文化体系中不可缺少的部分。言是文化的载体, 语言是文化的符号。每个民族都有自己独特的文化模式, 语言的运用方式表现了各民族的文化特征。世界上各种民族的语言都是去本民族物质和精神的历史，语言和社会文化有着密切的关系，他们是不课分割的，语言是文化的符号，代表很多文化的精髓。这种关系再“死亡”的用语上有着一定的表现。“死亡”语主要指的是死亡的自此或者短句。再英语和汉语中，都存在很很多很多的有关死亡的说法，这些死亡的同义词之中积淀了很多很多的关于中英两国，两个民族的非常丰富的文化内容。我们可以从语言的角度以小窥大，来分析中西方文化的异同。本文主要从死亡用语的差异看汉英文化的差异。能够把汉英语言中关于死亡的用语找出来，分析其起源，然后从关于“死”的词语中找出其中蕴含的文化因素。

Abstract

The present paper discusses cultural similarities and differences Seen from the expressions of “Death” in Chinese and English, gives a general picture of the Chinese and English terms by way of comparison between the Chinese culture and the English culture, and reveals the deep cultural connotations contained in this linguistic phenomenon. Language is a kind of symbol system. Laboring gives birth to languages, and they had been developing and enriched with the developing of human society. In a certain era, or a certain place, language is surely taking certain culture character which can tell the era and place. Language is the carrier of culture, the symbol as well. So, some different parlance of words can embody the character of a certain culture. Every nation has its unique culture mode, the use mode can exhibit their culture impress.

Different nations have different cultures during the long developing history. Various cultural factors resulted in different language forms. According to observation, analysis, and study, the discrepancies between the Chinese and Western culture include culture of allusions, of numbers, of colors, etc... It is an important issue to understand and handle the relationship between culture and language while translating English idioms. Meanwhile, language is not only the culture’s important content but also the carrier of culture, so culture and language are a whole.
