Abstract

With the development of our society, a large amount of new words pour into English vocabulary，reflecting all the aspects of people’s life. By analyzing many English new words, this paper tries to discuss the three major characteristics: variety in sources; diversity in word-formations; concision in morphological forms. It’s of great significance for us English learners to learn these characteristics.

随着社会的发展，大量的新词涌入英语词汇中，反映着人们生活的方方面面。本文通过分析新词，旨在探讨当代英语新词的三大特点：来源上广泛；构词手法上多种多样；词法形式上日趋简洁。了解这些特点，对于英语学习者具有重大的意义。

1. Introduction
    People always say that language is the mirror of our society, which records the development process of human-kinds, playing the role of a tool for human beings to communicate and convey information, and keeping adapting to the changing society. On the other hand, our society also affects language in many aspects. Advancement of modern science, changes of global political and economic situations, and progress of all aspects of society make language keep developing. The most obvious change of vocabulary, the most sensible and most flexible element of language, which always reflects the changes of language directly, is that many new words keep coming out. 
As an international language, English has shown its powerful vitality, keeping moving forward-----new words keeping emerging.
    A “new word” can be defined as “a newly created word, or expression, or a new meaning for an existing word.” New words are often accepted as parts of the already existing vocabulary.
