摘 要

在汉语和英语这两种语言中，表达颜色的词语种类繁多，如红色、黑色、白色，颜色词语在中英文化中的不同内涵代表着中英文化的不同特色。在众多颜色词中，红色非常典型且内涵丰富。本文以众多带红色的例子为材料，尝试探究红色词语在中西方之间的差异。
本文分为三个部分。在第一部分中，本文谈到了对于红色词在中西文化中的总体理解，包括文化上的理解和认知上的理解。在第二部分中，本文通过具体的有关红色词语的例子，分析其在中西文化中的差异，包括语义上的差异，情感上的差异和象征上的差异。在第三部分中，本文从两个角度透析差异产生的原因，分别是历史背景角度和语境角度。
通过对中英红色差异研究，本文对不同的差异进行归类，并分析了其原因，总体阐明了红色词语在中英文化中确实差异明显。而这些明显的差异都源于不同的认知和不同的文化。

ABSTRACT

Color terms are abundant in both Chinese and English languages, such as red, black, white. Different colors own their different meanings in the two language systems, which own their different characteristics of Chinese and English culture. In all kinds of color terms, red is very typical and rich in connotations. This paper attempts to make a study on the differences in red in Chinese and English by studying numerous examples available.
The paper is divided into three parts. In the first part, the overall understanding of red is presented, it includes cultural understanding and cognitive understanding. In the second part, the differences in red in Chinese and English are analyzed through specific examples. The analysis of differences includes analysis of different semantics, analysis of different emotions and analysis of different symbols. In the third part, the reasons for the differences above are discussed. The reasons are on historical backgrounds and contexts.
Through the comparative study on the sense of red in Chinese and English, the differences are classified, the reasons for the differences are analyzed, the obvious differences in red in Chinese and English are shed light. There is no deny that all the differences are due to different cognitions and cultures.
