Abstract

After World War II, the United States always control the commanding heights of public opinion during the war. In addition to America’s own hard power, TV news media reports also play an important role. The war reports of American television news have distinctive features. These characteristics have a close relationship with the national conditions of America, the state of the union of social values, the law and the government’s willingness. This study attempts to summarize the features of U.S. TV news by analyzing war reports and to make deeper understanding of U.S. literature and ideology available.

二战以来, 美国在战时始终控制着舆论制高点, 这除了美国自身的硬实力作支撑外, 电视新闻媒体的报道也扮演了重要的角色。而美国电视新闻的战争报道有着其鲜明的特点。这些特点的产生与美国的国情、社会价值观、法律以及政府的意愿有着密切的关系。本文试图通过对战争报道的分析，总结美国电视新闻的特点，为对进一步了解美国的意识形态和美国文化的本质提供途径。

I.    Introduction
  News is defined as what media such as newspaper, broadcast, TV etc. use to transfer information. News is required to be true, timely, valuable and fair. These important characteristics, in fact, are influenced by factors including words used, reporters’ tendency, TV station’s willing, and even government’s control. News is not only an information transition, but also a carrier with deep undiscovered meanings that influence people read news insensibly. In practice, it’s meaningful for people to understand hidden meanings under news. In theory, study of TV news’ new features will enrich this research field.
