摘  要：

委婉语是人们日常生活中普遍存在的一种语言文化现象，是一种用无害的或悦耳的词语代替那些较直接的或唐突的言辞，用善意的话把事实掩盖起来的的修饰手段，使用语言来调剂人际关系的一个重要手段。职业是当今社会中人们普遍关注而敏感的一个话题。人们所从事的职业相差悬殊。职业经常影响不同职业群体的交往互动。受平等观念的影响，人们在交际中热衷于使用职业委婉语。本文通过着重从英汉职业委婉语的产生原因、构成方式及使用原则作用等方面对英汉职业委婉语进行研究。试图通过具体的例子来探究在特定的语言环境下英汉职业委婉语的交际功能。只有借助职业委婉语，才能够调整好礼貌程度，从而把给对方的伤害降低到最低程度。较好地掌握英汉职业委婉语有助于人们在日常生活中尽量减少语言交际障碍，以达到礼貌交际和减少心理刺激。

Abstract:

Euphemism is a common linguistic phenomenon in our daily life. It is a rhetorical device that using harmless or good words to substitute for those direct or abrupt words and is also an important means to adjust the human relation. Career is a common concern of the human society and becomes a sensitive topic today. People are engaged in different occupations. Occupational differences frequently affect the communicative interaction of different occupational groups. People believing in the concept of equality are enthusiastic to use occupational euphemism when they communicate with others. This thesis mainly aims to investigate causes, formation devices and pragmatic principles of occupational euphemism. In this paper, some specific examples are employed to explore the communicative functions of the occupational euphemism. Only in this way can people do the least harm to others. Mastering occupational euphemism well is helpful for people to minimize obstacles in language communication in daily life so as to be polite and less mental stimulation.
