Abstract:

Appellation refers to a kind of language derived by relatives and other aspects of the relationship, as well as the identity and occupation. Appellation is not only a linguistic phenomenon, but also a social and cultural phenomenon. In every language, the appellation plays an important role in social etiquette. In this paper, the author tries to classify and analyze the similarities and differences in English and Chinese appellation to find the hidden cultural factors so as to promote cross-cultural communication. However, there is a shortage of the study of homosexuality appellation, causing mistakes in practical application, hindering the cross-cultural communication. This paper mainly focuses on the lexical development of homosexuality appellations, exploring the derivations, the background and the change of the meanings, and the denotations and connotations of several homosexuality appellations. So this paper helps us apply the appellations properly in cross-cultural communication and briefly discusses the problems in the translation of homosexuality appellations.

摘  要：

称谓语指的是人们在日常交往应酬之中，所采用的彼此之间的称呼。是人们由于亲属和其他方面的相互关系，以及身份、职业等而得来的名称、称谓语既是语言现象，也是社会、文化现象，在任何语言中，称谓语都担当着重要的社交礼仪作用。但是目前对同性恋称谓语的研究少之又少，造成人们在实际应用的时候总是出错，闹了不少笑话，更为我们跨文化交际带来许多不便。本文试将中英称谓语进行分类对比并分析其差异，从而探询其背后的文化因素并促进我们的跨文化交际活动。内容主要是，研究同性恋称谓语在词汇学上的发展历程，其产生背景，词义变化及原因，以及表达同性恋的词汇的确切含义和褒贬意思;让我们能更好地在跨文化交际的时候应用这些词汇。本文也简单地讨论了同性恋在称谓语上的翻译时出现的问题。
