Abstract

With the rapid development of information technology, world cultural exchanges  become more and more frequent, gradually expanding from commercial to cultural and other areas. TV drama is a cultural carrier that can clearly reflect the country’s culture. As one of the most successful TV series in America, Friends unfolds the American values and culture of the youth and it is a cultural encyclopedia of American youth. Struggle, one of the Chinese youth inspirational dramas, is a reflection of contemporary Chinese youths’ thoughts and culture. The comparative study on Chinese and American youth culture and its culture connotation can promote the Chinese and American cultural exchange, helping us better understand American culture, which will make the cross-cultural communication more effective.
In the paper, the writer makes comparative studies on the conception differences in Chinese and American youth and their cultural connotations. Chapter one simply introduced the surveyed teleplays and the background information of the study. Chapter two in the perspective of analyzes the cultural differences between Chinese and American youth on the aspect of family, career, love and friendship. Chapter three explores the reasons of these differences and offers some practical strategies for cross-cultural communication.

随着信息技术的迅速发展，世界各国文化交流日益频繁，并逐渐从商业交往扩展到文化及其他方面。电视剧作为一种文化载体，能直观体现出该国的文化。作为美国最成功的电视连续剧之一的《老友记》集中展现了美国青年的价值观和美国的文化，它是一部美国青年文化的百科全书；而在中国风靡一时的青春励志剧《奋斗》则折射出中国当代青年的思想和文化。对中美青年文化及其文化内涵的对比研究有助于加强中美文化的交流，有助于我们进一步了解美国文化，有助于跨文化交际的顺利进行。
文章通过对比的方法研究中美青年文化差异及其所反映的文化内涵。第一章简单介绍了电视剧《老友记》、《奋斗》和选题的背景。第二章主要分析了中美青年在家庭观、事业观、爱情观和友情观上的文化差异。第三章探究了中美青年产生文化差异的原因，提出了相应的策略。
