Abstract
   
    The movie the Joy Luck Club is adapted from the Chinese-American woman writer Amy Tan. The novel tells about the conflicts and fusion among the four mothers and their four daughters, representing the conflicts between Chinese culture and American spirit. And the conflicts of the four mothers and daughters are the cue for the cultural differences. In recent years intercultural communication is widely discussed in literature. The study of the cultural differences is to find some practical ways to solve the problems brought by cultural differences and to build a harmonious world. The study for Intercultural communication is necessary for globalization. It is a must to understand and respect each other’s culture. In the movie, the mothers and daughters have different values on love and marriage, on education and different views on the world because they are raised up in different cultural backgrounds. The thesis falls into three parts, the contradiction between the mother and daughter, the different values on equality and education between Americans and Chinese, and the methods to reduce conflicts caused by culture differences.

摘  要

电影《喜福会》是根据华裔女作家谭恩美的小说改编而成，小说中四位母亲和她们的四个女儿之间的相互冲突和相互融合，揭示了母女两代人所代表的中国文化和美国精神之间的冲突。母女之间的冲突是该文章中引出文化差异的线索。近年来，关于跨文化一直是一个文学上很热门的话题。研究中美文化的差异找出文化之间的差异解决由此引起的问题的可实施的办法，以此来构建和谐世界。跨文化的研究对于全球化是十分必要的。是理解和尊重彼此文化的必要举措。在电影中，母亲和女儿之间对于婚姻、爱、教育方式上面的不同观念以及世界观的不同，其根源就是文化差异所造成的母女之间有不同的成长环境，对于世界有不同的价值观，她们的思想受到不同文化的影响。作者将从下面三个方面来讨论此问题表：母女之间的矛盾体现的冲突；中美两国之间不同的平等观和教育观；以及减少由文化差异造成的矛盾的解决办法。
