Abstract

Mulan is a legendary female in traditional Chinese culture, The Ballad of Mulan promotes the Chinese traditional thought of loyalty and filial piety. For thousands of years, the heroine Mulan scrupulously abided by filial piety, joined the army for her old father, fought for the country, and won the honor and fames. She is the heroine under the feudal era, gives everyone a deep impression. In 1998, Disney Mulan combined the elements of Chinese culture and American culture, changed the traditional Chinese female image of Mulan. At the same time, it embedded the American cultural values in Chinese culture to disseminate, and won a huge success in the world. This paper aims at comparing the different images of Mulan so as to make a better understanding of the culture and cultural differences of China and America, researching the significance of transformation of American culture on Chinese traditional culture, and therefore to carry forward traditional Chinese culture.
This thesis is divided into five parts. The first part introduces Mulan and the both works. The second part studies on the different images of Mulan. The third part compares different themes in the two works. In chapter four, the author analyzes the different class concepts. In last part, the author compares people’s different views on the heroine.
At the end of this paper, the author hopes to make a better understanding of cutual differences between the two countries and carry forward the traditional Chinese culture.

摘  要

花木兰是中国传统文化中一个传奇女性形象,南北朝民歌《木兰辞》宣扬了中国的忠与孝的传统思想。女主角木兰恪守孝道、代父从军、为国出征,赢了尊敬和名誉,是封建时代下的巾帼英雄,给人们留下了深刻的印象。1998年，美国迪斯尼动画《木兰》将中国的文化和美国的文化因素相结合,改变了中国传统文化中的花木兰传奇女性形象。同时又将美国的文化价值观植入中国文化中传播，在世界获得了巨大成功。本文旨在通过对比解读中美花木兰的不同形象,更好地了解中美文化，理解中美文化的差异，研究美国文化转型对我国传统文化传播的意义，并借鉴这一方式发扬中国传统文化。
    本论文分为五个部分。第一个部分简单介绍木兰这一人物以及《木兰辞》与《木兰》两部作品。第二个部分则是研究木兰的不同形象。第三部分比较了两部作品的不同主题。在第四部分，作者分析了这两部作品里所包含的不同阶级观念。第五部分，作者则是比较了两部作品中人们对女英雄的不同认定。
全文最后作者希望通过对比解读中美花木兰的不同形象,更好地了解中美文化，理解中美文化的差异，发扬中国优秀传统文化。
