Abstract

    Nowadays, the concept of face plays an important role in daily communication, but there are many differences in understanding of face perception under the various cultural backgrounds. In the meantime, with the development of the globalization, there are more and more frequent international cooperation between the people with different cultural background, so the concept of face is widely used in international communication. However, there are still a lot of friction existing between them for the reason that different countries own different face perception. Therefore, the paper tries to make a comparison of the cultural difference of face between Chinese and western cultures and then make suggestions to reduce barriers in inter-cultural communication according to the analysis of face. Such paper could be designed to mitigate some conflicts caused by the misunderstanding of face in different cultures between China and western countries, and consequently lay a solid foundation for interpersonal cooperation between them in the time to come. In conclusion, the exploration of face in Chinese and western cultures is of practical significance in preventing cultural conflicts and promoting international communication between China and the West.

摘要

如今，面子观在日常交流中发挥着非常重要的作用，但是在不同文化背景下人们对面子观的理解依然存在着大量的分歧。同时，随着全球化的发展，中西方人民的合作日益频繁，面子观更被广泛应用于国际交流中。然而，在面子观的运用过程中，由于不同国家都有自己独特的面子观念，所以人们的交流也存在着很大的摩擦。因此，本文将试图探究中西方文化中面子观的差异。另外，通过对中西方面子观差异的充分分析，本文将提出建议以减少跨文化交际中的错误，缓和因误解面子观而造成的冲突，促进中西文化的相互融合和相互理解，从而为两方未来的合作奠定坚实的基础。总的来说，探究分析中西方文化面子观中的差异对于避免文化冲突和促进国际交流是有着实际意义的。
