Abstract

   Britain is a small island country situated in Western Europe with an area less than 250 thousand square kilometers. However, the splendid glory in history it created can not be ignored. It is Britain that broke the darkness of middle age and took the lead in establishing the bourgeois government through the civil war; one of the distinctive features is the maintenance of the monarch and royal family. This paper intends to analyze the possible reasons for the existence of the monarch in Britain respectively in terms of historical tradition, public psychology, social reality and the role of the monarch in social life, aiming to confirm the truth that Britain needs a monarch since it is the choice of British people and it conforms to the trend of historical development.

摘 要

英国，是一个位于欧洲西部面积不足25万平方公里的小小岛国。但是历史却不能遗忘这个小小岛国所创造出的不可一世的辉煌。是它一声惊雷打破中世纪的黑暗，发动内战，建立了资产阶级政权，其特点之一就是保留了君主和王室的存在。本文将从历史传统、国民心理、17世纪英国、欧洲社会现状以及立宪君主的社会作用四个方面阐述英国选择君主立宪政体，使君主和王室得以延续的原因，从而揭示本文论点——英国需要君主，保留君主是英国人民历史的选择，是符合英国历史发展要求的。

1. Introduction
At the western end of European-Asia continent and across the English Channel exists an island country, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, usually called Britain or England, composed of England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. It is always catching the eye of the whole world, as a Chinese historian Qian Chengdan has said, the population and occupation of Britain can not match its role in history. Without understanding it, it is impossible to understand the current world; without this country, the world might not have been as it is.
