[摘要]

由于英汉文化存在着截然不同的传统和风俗习惯，人们的生活方式、思维方式、价值观念、语言习惯等都有很大的差别，许多日常行为在两种语言的交际活动中也存在明显的文化差异。作者通过个案分析法研究2个中国女孩和2个英语外教的称赞言语行为。个案分析法中研究的问题主要有：一、他们如何运用语言称赞他人；二、表现在哪些方面。本文分析英汉称赞言语的功能，对比英汉文化中称赞语行为的异同点，指出英汉称赞语在跨文化交际中的语用失误，使大家加深对英汉称赞语的理解，以便熟练运用英语进行交际。

Abstract:

Because of different tradition and different custom habit in two kind of cultures between Western countries and China, there being so much differences in life style, thinking manner, conception of value and language habit of different kind of people, many daily actions exist distinct cultural difference in communication activities under two kind of language. Write investigated two Chinese girls and two English people by case study method. In case study method, the researched problems contain: 1) How English people and Chinese praise others by using speech act; 2) Manifest on what aspects. By analyzing the function and praise speech act, contrasting the differences and similarities of two kind of praises between English and Chinese, and showing pragmatically mistakes of English and Chinese praises, this article aims at having a further understanding that language can be reflected in communication value, just when language is used correctly in a certain background and linguistically situation, which is great enlightenment and helpful for our daily communication.

1. Introduction
Language is not only a carrier of culture, but also an intimate composing part of culture, which reflects culture, meanwhile is affected by culture. To praise others is a kind of polite speech act, which is used frequently in our daily communication. Praising others correctly not only can cut down the distance between two speakers, but also can be helpful to build friendship and keep the relationship between them balanced. So, if one person wants to make success in inter cultural communication, he must know how to praise the other person. What’ is more; he must master a skill how to respond others’ praise.
Praise is a kind of speech act that keep harmony touch with others and show recognition and approval to others. Expression of speech act exist different systems in different cultures. To a certain degree, different speech act can become to rootedness in certain cultural background, and can be melted into local dialect forming into the daily language. And praise is a kind of emotive act that people show admiration and appreciation for people or things or objects. And the act is on the basis of some existed people, objects or having finished act. Obviously, this reorganization builds up analysis of praise. When the circumstances of the praise act enlarge to the whole social relations, the function of praise would be more diversity.
