摘要

语言理据是语言的发展演变和各种因素之间的联系，也是语言研究的重点问题之一。对英汉新词理据性进行比较和研究，具有十分重要的理论与实践意义。本文首先介绍了新词和理据的定义和分类，以及新词的主要特点。在此基础上，本文从语音理据、形态理据、语义理据以及词源理据四个方面对英汉新词进行对比分析。本文旨在通过对英汉新词的理据性研究探索新词的实用价值，帮助人们灵活地记忆单词，有效的学习新词，从而克服在英语学习、阅读和翻译中的障碍，有利于更好地开展跨文化交流活动。

Abstract

The motivation of language is the link between the development and evolution of language and various factors, and it is also one of the key issues in language study. A comparative study on motivation of English and Chinese neologisms has a very important theoretical and practical significance. On the basis of the introduction of the definitions and classifications of neologisms and motivation, as well as the main features of neologisms, this paper makes a contrastive analysis of English and Chinese neologisms from four aspects: phonetic motivation, morphological motivation, semantic motivation and etymological motivation. The purpose of this paper is to explore the practical value of neologisms by studying the motivations of English and Chinese neologisms, to help people memorize words flexibly and improve efficiency of neologisms learning, and then to help learners to overcome some obstacles in English learning, reading and translation, so as to carry out cross-cultural communication activities better.

1    Introduction
With the development of society and advancement of science and technology, being the messenger for cultural inheriting, language has also gone through great changes and been continuously supplemented with further fresh blood for itself. Being in the core position among the various elements of language, words have got most significant changes accordingly. In today’s era of information explosion, various fresh things and new phenomena have emerged continuously, which causes the new concepts and feelings of people to emerge increasingly. Facing such phenomena, the existing words are not adequate to the demand any longer. So people tend to find a variety of ways to make words, in order to make efficient supplement for the massive null symbols in the objective world in time.
