社会的不断发展变化促进了英语新词的形成和演变，类比作为一种重要的构词方式，对现代英语新词的构成起着至关重要的作用。本文首先介绍了英语新词和类比的定义、分类，以及类比词的构成方式。在此基础上，本文从构词角度和语义关系两方面探讨了类比在英语新词构成中的作用，主要表现在类比促进词族和词缀的形成，以及为人们在英语新词创造中提供不同的思维方式。本文旨在引起英语学习者对英语类比新词的兴趣，帮助他们了解英语新词的形成过程，从而更好地掌握和使用英语类比新词。

Abstract

    The constantly developing and changing society promotes the formation and evolution of English neologisms. As a main form of word formation, analogy plays a vital role in the formation of English neologisms. On the basis of the introduction of  definitions and classifications of English neologisms and analogy, as well as the formation of analogical words, this paper tries to explore the role of analogy in the formation of English neologisms from the perspectives of word formation and semantic relationship, which are embodied in the creation of new word families and affixes, and different ways of thinking for people to create English neologisms. This paper aims at stimulating English learners’ interests in English analogical neologisms, and helping them understand the formation of English neologisms, so as to master and use English analogical neologisms better.

1  Introduction
In the process of human development, language is the carrier of culture, evolving continuously with the rapidly changing times. With the evolution and changes of science and technology, the prosperity of economy and the development of politics and cultures, more and more new things, new ideas and concepts appear in our life, accordingly a lot of English neologisms are continually created and quickly spread. As a window of human society, English neologisms can not only reveal changes and phenomena of the society, but also reflect the development of the language itself.
In this paper, I’ll use the latest English neologisms as data sources mainly collected from Oxford Advanced Learner’s English-Chinese Dictionary (2009), as well as websites www.wordspy.com and www.baidu.com. Based on these data, I find that many English neologisms are created through analogy. Among various methods of producing English neologisms, analogy is a very important and productive method because people are accustomed to creating new things and new concepts according to the existing words, and analogical words are more vivid, practical and easier to comprehend. That is to say, analogy plays an important role in the formation of English neologisms.
