Abstract:

Forrest Gump is an epoch-making classic movie. The whole story is naturally smooth, extremely rich in artistic appeal and impact. The movie has been widely praised for many years, attracting many scholars to search. The huge influence of the film results from the deepening and sublimation of the grand narrative theme. It is generally believed that the success of the film is due to its profound social moral and cultural connotations. Nevertheless, this paper does the research into the original English discourse of Forrest Gump from the perspective of linguistics, which fully analyzes the prominent characteristics of the lines, making more viewers appreciate and enjoy the unique charm of the film.

《阿甘正传》是一部具有划时代意义的经典电影。因为整个故事情节自然流畅，艺术方面极富感染力和冲击力。《阿甘正传》多年来一直受到人们广泛好评， 引来了很多学者对其进行研究。该影片的巨大影响力, 得益于电影本身的有所作为和对美国宏大叙事主题的深化和升华。学术界普遍认为，该电影的成功应归功于其影片深刻的社会寓意及文化内涵。本文独辟蹊径，从语言学的角度对电影《阿甘正传》英文原版的人物话语进行研究，充分分析其话语的显要特点，使更多的观众能够体味和享受该电影在塑造人物时话语的独特魅力。

1 Introduction
Forrest Gump is a definitive American movie. It's historical, patriotic and it's got a dunce as the hero. Forrest doesn't lose his innocence and purity throughout the movie, or maybe he just can't but either way. This shows you don't need to be evil or really intelligent to be recognized or successful. A good understanding of the movie lines can improve our linguistic competence and cultural competence. For that, the research in this field can be of great help in the study of the English and American culture.
2 The Summary of Forrest Gump
"Life is like a box of chocolates……you never know what you're gonna get." Gump's mother always told him. Like the movie itself, the line in Forrest Gump became a main clue and inspiration to millions of people worldwide.
From the beginning of this film, Gump was sitting on the long chair, talking about the process of growing up and his lifetime: how he became a football star in the university; how he was to be a hero in the war; how he had a chance to be a diplomat of ping-pang; how he became a shrimp tycoon; and how he won the White House honors etc. This movie also described the pure friendship among Gump and his friends, and finally he succeeded in gaining love from Jenny.
Gump has done none of these for his own benefit; he just tried to do his best with kindness and mind. He got it, and his success became an inspiration to all of us.
