Abstract
English public speaking, as an important teaching method, could effectively improve students’ English level if utilized properly. Therefore, nowadays a growing number of Chinese universities began to provide lecture courses for students. However, a considerable proportion of students rejected attending these lectures and did not receive good results in English speeches. The culprit was English public speaking anxiety. In order to solve this vexed problem of many English majors, the author explored English public speaking anxiety from multiple angles.
Firstly,the essay elaborated the definitions of anxiety and English public speaking anxiety in professional books published at home and abroad, and listed its symptoms. The second part investigated the causes of English public speaking anxiety and analyzed them by six contestants’ performances in CCTV Cup English Speaking Contest, which could make readers more easily understand English public speaking anxiety. Thirdly, the author provided readers with a series of practical strategies on how to conquer English public speaking anxiety and described some examples of utilizing these strategies in English public speeches so that the reader might master the skills of how to conquer English public speaking anxiety and become a successful speaker.

摘要
英语演讲作为一种重要的教学手段,如果适当运用可以极大地提高学生的英语水平。因此越来越多的大学为学生提供英语演讲课程。然而,由于英语演讲焦虑,相当比例的一部分学生排斥英语演讲,而且他们在演讲过程中也没有收到好的效果。为了解决这个问题,作者从多个角度对英语演讲焦虑作了分析。
首先,这篇论文解释了国内外关于焦虑和英语演讲焦虑的定义,列举了英语演讲焦虑的症状。然后着重分析了英语专业学生产生英语演讲焦虑的原因。为了使读者能够更清楚地理解英语演讲焦虑的症状,作者用图表分析了CCTV英语演讲比赛选手的表现,紧接着作者提供了一系列克服英语演讲焦虑的策略,而且运用实例描述了这些策略的使用情况,希望通过这些内容使学生更好地掌握英语演讲的方法,成为一个成功的演讲者。
