Abstract

As we all know, there are great differences between Chinese and American cultures, so cultural conflicts are unavoidable. The Joy Luck Club is a movie based on the novel written by Amy Tan, a famous Chinese American writer. In the movie, the conflicts between mothers and daughters happened very frequently. The Chinese mothers in The Joy Luck Club were born and grew up in China，therefore Chinese culture is deeply rooted in their mind. Despite they decided to move to America in their early life, they continue to stick to the culture of their homeland. In contrast, their daughters were born and brought up in America. They are profoundly affected by American culture. They are habituated to the thoughts, moral values, traditional customs and living style of America. The difference between two cultures behind the mothers and the daughters are the causes of the conflicts.

摘要

众所周知，中美文化存在着巨大的差异性，文化冲突不可避免。喜福会这部电影是依据美国华侨女作家谭恩美的同名小说改编的。电影中的四位中国移民母亲在中国出生和长大，中国文化深深地植根于她们心中。她们的初期生活与来美国后的生活有着天壤之别，她们深受祖国传统文化的影响。相比较，女儿们在美国出生和长大，她们深受美国文化的影响，她们的思维方式，价值观和生活方式都是美国式的，中美两种文化的差异正是造成母女冲突的主要根源。
