摘要

对语言学家来说，语言和性别研究一直是一个热点问题。性别歧视存在于所有的语言中，其中也包括英语和汉语。语言是社会的一面镜子，能够反映出社会习俗和价值观念。而谚语——作为语言的精华，更是包含了浓厚的民族色彩和独特的文化内涵。本文以谚语为语料，比较英汉语言中的性别歧视现象，并从历史文化、社会角色和政治宗教三个方面分析导致性别歧视的原因。研究发现，英汉谚语存在大量女性歧视现象，主要表现在社会地位、婚姻、言语行为、道德标准和智慧能力等五个方面。本文从文化角度揭示语言中的性别歧视现象，旨在提高人们男女平等意识，帮助人们减少并进一步消除在日常生活以及语言中的性别歧视现象，有助于减少人们对女性的歧视，提高女性在社会中的地位。

Abstract

The study of language and gender is always a hot issue for linguists. The phenomenon of gender bias exists in all languages, including English and Chinese. Language, as a mirror of society, can reflect social customs and values. Proverbs, as the essence of language, contain ethical color and distinctive culture connotations. This thesis explores the gender discrimination through a comparative study of the English and Chinese proverbs from five aspects: women's social status, women's marriage, women's speech and behavior, women's wisdom and women's character. An analysis of its history and culture, social roles and psychological is an attempt to find solutions to help women gain their rights. The purpose of the thesis is to raise people's awareness of gender bias, eliminates gender discrimination in daily life and language, and in the end to realize the gender equality between men and women.
