摘要

在中英文化中，颜色或者颜色词都蕴含着丰富的意义。人们生活在这五彩缤纷的世界，衣食住行，生活种种，都由各种各样的颜色组成，可以说没有颜色，生活将变得异常乏味枯燥。颜色是一种视觉效果，颜色词在不同文化中都来源于人类对自然界的基本感知，因而其含义具有相似性。然而由于不同的语言文化对颜色词的理解与运用不一样，人们对颜色词的认知和表达不尽相同。颜色词的联想意义在英汉两种不同的语言中有时是可以对等的，有时是不对等的，也有可能属于文化空白的。这篇文章将以最常见的颜色词红，白，黑，蓝为例，通过颜色词具体实例的解说，对它们的文化内涵进行分析和对比，旨在加深人类对颜色的理解和正确翻译英汉颜色词。

Abstract

The color words show bright and colorful nature, but also have rich emotional and cultural connotations. There is no doubt that without color, our life will become tedious and dull. Color is a kind of visual effect. The color words in different cultures are derived from the basic human perception of nature, so its meaning is similar. However, due to differences in cultural background: national customs, geographical environment, religious beliefs, national psychology, political economic and so on, people’s experience and expression of the color words are not the same. The associative meaning of color words may be similar in two different languages, but sometimes they are not. This paper will take red, white, black, blue for example, and compare their cultural connotation through specific examples of color words, which aims to give people a clearer understanding of color words and enable them to choose the right translation.
