摘要
本文在搜集了中美高校校训各100多则的基础上,依据跨文化的相关理论对其进行整理分类。随后依据Geert Hofstede的文化维度理论以及Kluckhohn 和 Strodtbeck的价值观取向理论对中美高校校训所体现出来的异同进行了详细地对比分析,并探讨了产生这些差异的原因。

Abstract
On the basis of collecting more than 100 university mottos in both China and America respectively, the writer has conducted a systematic data preparation and reduction under the relevant cross-culture theory. According to Geert Hofstede’s cultural dimensions theory and value orientation theory by Kluckhohn and Strodtbeck, after a comparison of the mottos from those prestigious universities in these two countries, this paper analyzes the data and the cultural differences displayed by those mottos in detail.
