摘  要

语言的模糊性是人类自然语言体系中客观存在的一种基本属性，因而被应用于人类交际活动中。近年来，许多国内外语言学家和研究者对模糊语言做了不同角度的研究，但以往的研究却很少从交际意图的角度将模糊语言与商务信函结合起来分析。本文证实了在商务信函中恰当地运用模糊语言不会造成交际障碍，反而会使表达更灵活，进而有助于成功地实现交际意图。本文从模糊语言和商务信函相结合的角度切入，通过对一些商务信函中模糊语言实例的分析，旨在解决三个问题：模糊语言的定义和性质，以及模糊语在商务信函中的应用。以期本文的主要研究结果能指导商界人士灵活地使用模糊语言，达到成功交易的目的。

Abstract

Fuzzy language is one of the basic properties that exit necessarily and inevitably in natural language system. It is being widely conducted in our daily lives and activities. So far, many studies on fuzzy language and business correspondence have been carried out respectively by linguists and researchers. However, very few studies have been conducted with fuzzy language and business correspondence combined together for research, especially conducted less on fuzzy language in business correspondence from the perspective of communicative intention. This study, with the intention that it may be served as a potential perspective for the study of fuzziness in business correspondence, manage to figure out these three questions, which are: (1) the definition of fuzziness in China and abroad, (2) the features of fuzzy language, and (3) the application of fuzziness in English business correspondence. It is found that fuzzy language won’t cause troubles at all in those business English correspondences, but effectively enhances the flexibility and expression of language, which makes the business communication more proper and polite. The major findings of this paper aim to lead us to think and study fuzziness from a different angle, and do similar researches in other related fields, and also aim to expect to guide business people to use fuzzy language flexibly, properly thus achieving the successful business communication.
