摘  要

网络英语新词已成为网上聊天极其重要的媒介，涉及各领域，且颇受广大网民的欢迎。本文的目的是研究网络英语新词的主要形成方式，现状特点，和取得高人气的原因，并就其未来的发展趋势进行简要分析。网络英语新词，不仅采用了传统的单词构成法，例如：合成法，衍生法，缩略法和特殊符号替代法等等，且采用了颇受网民欢迎的非传统方式，其中，旧词新意便是一种至关重要的方法。此外，英语新词具有简单性，娱乐性，和时尚性，且体现了现今社会中人的自由意识和年轻人的主要心理特征，受到年轻一代的青睐。有些网络英语将来可能会晋升为标准英语的一员，有些可能仅仅一直停留于网络用语，有些甚至会随着时间的推移而消亡。

Abstract

English Cyber-neologism has been an extremely important medium for online chatting in current world, which has covered various fields, and has gained great popularity among the majority of Internet users. The aim of this paper is to study the main formation of English Cyber-neologisms, to find out the current characteristics of English Cyber-neologisms, to analyze the causes leading to the popularity of them in recent years and to have a brief analysis of the possible developing tendencies of English Cyber-neologisms in the near future. In fact, English Cyber-neologisms not only adopt the traditional ways of word formation, such as compounding, derivation, abbreviation, special symbols and so on, but also adopt the non-traditional way, and in particular, endowing old words with new meanings is one important method. What’s more, English Cyber-neologisms are always created to be simple, recreational, and fashionable and are always reflecting a sense of freedom and young people’s most common psychological features in current society, so that they are always favored by a large number of young generations. Furthermore, some English Cyber-neologisms are inclined to be standardized to become a member of standard language due to their unique characteristics, or just used as network dialects in general communication online, however, some of them are also likely to lose the competitive strength as the time goes by and being substituted is the final result.
