Abstract
This thesis takes the theoretical basis from Systematic Functional Linguistics as the frame and takes the movie The Message as an example to preliminarily discuss how the movie discourse realizes the multi-mode interaction among images, sounds and music, voiceover etc. in terms of Critical Linguistics. By means of studying the figures, hues, pictures ,sounds, etc in the movie discourse ,the paper is to comprehensively analyze the technical means at the multimedia time and the expressive effect .It then goes on to  explore the cultural connotation in the movie, i.e. to embody the story theme through the multi-mode technology in film- and television-production .

本论文旨以系统功能语言学的理论基础为框架，从语言批评角度出发，以电影语篇《风声》为范例，初步探讨电影语篇如何实现影像、声乐、旁白等多模态的互动。通过对电影中人物，色调，画面，声音的研究来综合分析多媒体时代的技术手段及其效果的表达，进而进一步发掘其所蕴含的文化内涵，以此来反映电影电视制作中多模态技术对于故事主题的体现。

1 Introduction
With the remarkable development of science and technology, internet and multimedia are extensively put into use and the multimodal discourse analysis has become an integrate part of public communications means. Numerous news programs and entertainment programs rely not only on language but also on colors, sounds, gestures, images and other non-verbal resources. This paper is a brief analysis on the skillful use on multimodality in the movie The Message.
In recent years more and more scholars home and abroad have conducted extensive research on Multimodal Discourse Analysis（MDA）. The most famous scholars who have achieved great reward in this field are Kress and Van Leeuwen. They put forwards the first systematic and comprehensive framework for analyzing multimodal discourse in the book Reading Images. Multimodal discourse analysis didn’t draw enough attention from the academic world only when Modern linguistics began to study it from the perspective of nonverbal features and paralanguage features. And it was then used only as a kind of auxiliary expression system for language but not as a kind of meaning expression modality .With the popularity of multimedia, people begin to realize its importance and set up an independent academic field to do research.
