Abstract
Along with the massive and complicated development of Internet, many social phenomena caused by it are gradually shaping people's communication and even social atmosphere. This paper conducts an analysis of the hot Chinese net-phrasings from the view of cognitive linguistics. 1. Introduction
As technology and economy develop rapidly in China, the changes happened on the Internet have drawn the attention of the whole nation. To limit the influence of Internet language, the governments of both provinces and the nation have even adopted some controlling measures, for example, the identification policy and Fifty Cent Party. The idea is good; however, the reality is cruel. The extreme freedom embodies in internet has already helped it run out of control, at least, the absolute control.
Years ago, it was hard to imagine that a work by a traditional writer would contain any phrasings born from Internet. But writers today seem to have developed a habit of using net-phrasings to get them closer to readers or make their works more easily to understand; or they do so just for the need of creativity. Whatever the reason is the society is being changed rapidly by the Internet language.
2. Literature Review
2.1 The Current Chinese Internet Language Environment
As for the definition of Internet language, Qin Xiubai (2003) has pointed out that in the broad sense it includes: (1) technical terms of computer and network; (2) terms relevant to Internet culture; (3) special terms used in CMC (Computer-Mediated Communication) like BBS communication. The Chinese Internet language in this paper refers to the last definition, i.e., the language people used in Internet communication which features a combination of characters, letters, graphs and signs.
