摘要

近年来，随着全球化进程的深入发展，中西方跨文化交流日益增多，但由于中西方在文化背景及社会传统等方面各不相同，导致中西方在价值观念、社会习俗和生活方式等表现出巨大的差异。本文从隐私观入手，说明国内外现状，总结了中西方对此概念不尽相同的理论和理解，阐述分析了双方在不同文化背景下隐私观的差异和特点，对比了中西方隐私观在内容上的不同并思考讨论产生这些不同的原因，目的是使我们能够更好的认识了解文化的差异以及差异带来的具体方面的表现。最后，谈一谈隐私观折射出的文化差异带来的思考和启示，同时在跨文化交际中能减少一些障碍，更加有效的提高跨文化交际的能力。

Abstract

With the gradual development of Globalization recently, intercultural communication of China and Western countries has been increased day by day. However, as a result of vast differences on cultural background and social tradition, people have their own values, social conventions and mode of life that also differ from others. This paper begins with a brief introduction to privacy concept, demonstrating the current situation at home and abroad. At the same time, the author exposit and analyze the differences and features of privacy concept because of the cultural background. Then the paper focus on the comparison of Chinese and Western privacy concept, discussing the probable reasons which lead to this phenomenon, aiming at the better understanding of cultural diversity and specific manifestations that from the diversity. Only when people know clearly about these aspects can achieve the main purpose: reduce the impediment in the intercultural communication and enhance ability to communicate.

1.    Introduction
1.1.    The background
Culture is the constitutively intrinsic factor of social life, and function with other factors to maintain the overall order of our social life. Nevertheless, it is not so easy to define culture precisely. One famous scholar considers that culture is everything that one person’s life depends on. The British anthropologist Taylor(1877), the first scholar summarizes and generalizes the human cultural phenomena from side of the anthropology, views the culture as a complex including the knowledge, belief, art, law, morality, custom and capability and habituation that a social member need. From the existing definition, culture is regarded as a multi-level complex. And down to the ages, the count of new definition of culture is growing on and on. All of them have their own emphases. (Li Ling;Sun Hong, 2010)
Under the background of globalization, the impact and friction even the contradictory and conflict of different nationalities, different cultures and different religions can be the significant aspect to influence the world stabilization. With the development and globalization of economy, the increasingly appeared foreign culture has been found to be so divergent when compared with our life customs. And this is the main point why people can not avoid the cultural conflict during the intercultural communication. In realistic life, the cultural conflict and problems of Chinese and Western countries have never been suspended. What changes are the manifestation modes of the differences from past to now. As for national and traditional culture, one thing can be sure is that they need to exchange.
