摘要

新闻的特点有客观性、准确性、时效性等。指示语在新闻中的特殊运用不但要体现上述特点，还要满足采编或转载的需要。因此，有必要探讨原版英文报纸中人称、地点和时间指示语的使用情况。人称、地点和时间指示语的使用情况表明为了适应新闻报道的特殊性和采编的实际需要，新闻中的指示语一方面侧重于体现作者的中立，另一方面尽量避免对特定语境的依赖，保证内容的准确传达。本文旨在通过研究讨论指示语在英语新闻的运用，更好的理解英语新闻的内容。
本论文共分为五部分。第一部分介绍本论文的背景和撰写本论文的目的，同时为后文做好铺垫。第二部分介绍指示语，首先介绍指示语的概念；其次介绍指示语的分类，包括人称指示语、时间指示语、地点指示语、篇章指示语和社会指示语；最后，介绍指示语的特征，指示语的特征可归纳为中心原则。指示中心包括1）人物中心是发话人 ，2） 时间中心是发话时间 ，3）地点的中心是发话人发话时所处的位置，4） 话语中心是发话人当时正说到的内容，5） 社交中心是发话人相对于受话人和第三者的社会地位。 第三部分介绍指示语在英语新闻中的应用以及语用功能，是按照指示语的分类逐条介绍的。第四部分对全文进行总结。

Abstract

The news has the characteristics of objectivity, accuracy, and timeliness. The special uses of deixis in English news not only reflect the above characteristics, but also meet the needs of the editing or reprint. Therefore, it is necessary to explore in the usage of deixis in the original English newspaper. On the one hand, deixis in news focus on reflecting the author's neutral attitude. On the other hand, it helps to avoid dependence on specific context and guarantee the accuracy of the content of the message. This thesis aims at the study of usage and application of deixis in English news.
This paper can be divided into four chapters. Chapter one describes the background and purpose of this paper. At the same time it paves the way for later parts. Chapter two introduces deixis. Firstly, it introduces the concept of deixis. Secondly, classification of deixis is introduced, which includes person deixis, time deixis, place deixis, discourse deixis, and social deixis. Finally, the characteristic of deixis characterized, can be summarized as the central principle. That includes 1) The character center is speaker; 2) The time center is time of speaking; 3) The location center is the place where speaker is in; 4) Context center is the content of the speaker; 5) The social center is social status of speaker compared to listener or the third part.   Chapter three introduces application and describes pragmatic functions of deixis in English news, which is introduced in accordance with classification of the deixis one by one. Chapter four makes summary of the full text.
